Job Description Job Description Job Title: Mechanical Technician Job Description As a Service Technician, you will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on rental equipment in the field, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Responsibilities Perform cleaning and maintenance of rental equipment, including water pumps, generators, concrete tools, and more. Investigate and diagnose equipment faults and failures, recommending repair solutions. Conduct light repairs on both rental and customer-owned equipment. Maintain a clean and orderly shop environment. Engage in daily activities such as pressure washing equipment, safety checks, and service maintenance. Handle phone calls from customers regarding rented equipment. Assist with loading and unloading rental equipment. Process paperwork for rental contracts and invoices. Respond to outside rental service calls as needed. Provide light customer service repairs and resolve rental disputes fairly. Educate customers on the correct operating procedures of rental equipment. Ensure product availability and maintain equipment to encourage rentals. Keep the wash bay and yard organized and clean. Essential Skills Experience with electrical DC and control systems, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Knowledge of ignition and fuel systems, small engine repairs, and diesel engines. Experience in repairing midsized construction equipment, AC generators, air compressors, pumps, heating systems, and saws. Proficiency in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair tasks. Ability to perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment. Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Proficiency in using hand tools and conducting small engine repairs. Additional Skills & Qualifications 3-5 years of small engine knowledge and mechanical ability. Basic computer knowledge. Ability to lift 50-75 pounds regularly. Courteous and professional customer service skills. Valid driver’s license and a driving record compliant with insurance requirements. Ability to read and understand parts diagrams and schematics for equipment repairs. Capability to work outdoors and in various weather conditions. Work Environment You will work primarily in a heated and ventilated shop, with occasional outdoor assignments on construction sites in various weather conditions. The position involves collaboration within a small team of three rental technicians, providing support and guidance to each other. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm or 7 am to 4 pm, with potential after-hours service calls. The company provides uniforms and tools, although having personal tools is appreciated as a sign of investment in the trade. Safety shoe reimbursement program is we will pay for half of your safety shoes for work twice a year.
