The Registered Nurse renders collaborative nursing care via Patient
Coordinated Care to a caseload of patients for an assigned shift.
Care is provided in accordance with the medical staff
practitioner’s treatment plan, nursing standards of care/practice,
and professional code of ethics. The RN is committed to promoting
the health potential of the patient, considering body, mind, and
spirit through the implementation of the nursing process. This
position requires the demonstration of the ability to delegate
appropriately and direct staff in the coordination and delivery of
care. The RN assumes responsibility for the appropriate utilization
of care resources and demonstrates positive interpersonal
relationships with others in problem resolution. Sensitivity to the
needs of patients, families, and fellow employees is essential. The
RN reports directly to the Director of Nursing for Acute/Sub Acute
Services. Daily direction is received from the Shift Charge Staff
Member. Collaboration with all members of the healthcare team in
the coordination of patient care is required. The RN will oversee
the delegation and direction of care for the assigned shift,
working with a caseload team that may include LVNs and CNAs. This
position involves tasks that include exposure to blood, body
fluids, or tissues. Knowledge of the principles of growth and
development over the life span of patients and families is
necessary. The RN must possess the ability to assess data
reflective of the patient’s life span needs. Population-based care
must be provided according to departmental skills and competencies
across identified age groups. The RN will perform direct patient
care according to the defined patient populations for the Acute/Sub
Acute Department. Responsibilities include admission, discharge,
transfer procedures, communication to provide continuity of care,
and care for patients undergoing invasive and/or operative
procedures. Assessment and promotion of optimal functioning across
various body systems, including neurological, respiratory,
cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and musculoskeletal functions, is
required. Medication administration must be performed with
knowledge of actions, routes, dosages, and side effects. The RN
will provide nursing interventions to assist patients during the
end of life process and implement patient/family education based on
individualized needs. The position also requires participation in
the development and achievement of department annual goals and
objectives pertaining to patient care. Leadership skills are
necessary for overseeing and providing feedback on work performance
of shift staff and other healthcare team members. Active
involvement in committees for exchanging information and
problem-solving is expected. The RN will attend mandatory
competency training and pursue ongoing education to develop their
knowledge base in nursing practice. Participation in quality
assurance and performance improvement activities is required,
including identifying opportunities for improvement and collecting
data as needed. Knowledge of and compliance with all applicable
healthcare standards, policies, and emergency management practices
is essential. The RN must demonstrate professional accountability
and a commitment to high-quality patient care. Requirements
