Registered Nurse (RN) | Emergency Room (ER) / Trauma Location: Bakersfield, CA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,723 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 16 Weeks Start Date: 2/2/2026 About the Position Job Title: Nurse Shift Manager Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 16 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Required Certifications: - BLS - ACLS - PALS - NIHSS Must-Have: Charge RN experience or management experience. Description: This is a Nurse Shift Manager position. Travelers must have strong Charge RN or management experience. Nurse Shift Managers will take patients and provide direct patient care when necessary. NSMs will also fulfill the Charge Nurse role and manage the department. They are expected to assist with patient care as needed, including triaging ambulance patients, starting IVs, and administering medications. NSMs will provide support wherever it is required within the department. The unit has 21 beds. Fast track is staffed with mid-levels and LVNs. Patient ratios are 1 to 4, unless there is an ICU patient, which would be 1 to 2. The charting system used is Cerner. Charge Nurse serves as the shift manager and a resource nurse. Nurse aides include ED Techs who are EMTs or aides from other units. Weekend requirements include 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule. Weekends are Friday/Saturday for nights and Saturday/Sunday for days. There is one major holiday and one minor holiday requirement. Scrub color is navy blue, with matching scrub jackets required. Patients typically include those seen in an emergency room, with some days having MedSurg Tele holds. Additional notes: The facility is a primary stroke center. They rarely hold psych patients longer than 12 hours and utilize a mobile evaluation team. Daily patient volume can vary significantly, sometimes seeing as many as 175 patients. Must be very teamwork-oriented. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shift cancellations per 13-week assignment.
