Full Time Corehire Shift: 6:45pm - 7:15am *Position qualifies for
employee referral bonus. $10k sign on bonus with 3 years experience
as RN. Job Description: PATIENT POPULATION: The patient population
served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent,
pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect
facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general
public. This nurse provides nursing care to those infants, children
and adolescents (from one (1) days to 13 years of age) and adults
requiring nursing assessment and intervention for patients in out
patient or observation status to stabilize an illness or injury.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Medical
Surgical Leadership and Charge Nurse, the Pediatric Registered
Nurse (R.N.) independently provides holistic, individualized care
using the nursing process for patients routinely seen on the unit.
Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, nursing
judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the
quality of patient care. Independently performs general and
unit-specific clinical skills. Contributes to the Sierra View
Medical Center Department of Patient Care Services and the nursing
profession in a positive manner. Is responsible for the assessment,
treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in
terms of the patient's needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and
development and has an understanding of the range of treatment
needed for all patient groups. Is responsible for the assessment,

normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs,
weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as
directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled
and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you
are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California
Emergency Services Act. (Gov’t. Code §§ 3100, 3102) Needs to

skills. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully,
an individual must have and maintain current licensure as a
Registered Nurse in the state of California. Must have and maintain
current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process,
prior to hands-on patient care. Must have and maintain PALS
provider cards or obtain within six (6) months of assignment. Must
have and maintain ACLS certifications or obtain within six (6)
months of assignment. Six (6) month time frame is at the discretion
of the department Leadership. Responsibilities and Essential
Functions: *Indicates Essential Function 1 * Is responsible for the
assessment, treatment and/or care appropriate to the ages of the
patients served. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret
information in terms of the patient’s needs. Possesses knowledge of
growth and development and has an understanding of the range of
treatment needed for all patient groups. 2 * Utilizes holistic
assessment skills, recognizing subtle, covert or abnormal signs and
symptoms that include at least one of the following: involvement of
patient/significant other, discharge needs, psychosocial needs,
biophysical needs, environmental needs, teaching needs. 3 *
Identifies nursing diagnosis and interdependent nursing problems
and selects applicable nursing care standards to guide patient
care. Recognizes issues/concerns that could impact development of
mutual goals. 4 Ensures that the Care Plan is specific and unique
to the individual patient utilizing Interdependent Nursing
Standards and the discharge needs of complex/multi-system patients.
5 According to established clinical policy, procedure and
standards, the R.N. safely performs nursing care including safe
administration of medication, troubleshoots equipment and
demonstrates skill in clinical problem solving. 6 Ensures that the
nursing care provided is consistent with the established Nursing
Plan of Care, the Medical Plan of Care and the ages of the patients
served. 7 * The effectiveness of the Plan of Care is evaluated and
communicated through exchange report; recommendations are made for
future care and are consistent with current documentation. 8 *
Communicates evaluation of, or changes in, patient status providing
supportive data to the physician or health care team as
appropriate. 9 * Demonstrates adherence to the Joint Commission
"National Patient Safety Goals for Hospitals" as defined by Scope
of Practice. 10 * Documentation reflects compliance with
established Hospital policies and procedures. 11 * Demonstrates
knowledge of role by adherence to NPSGs as it relates to area of
practice. 12 Demonstrates an understanding of the use, actions and
interactions of drugs used in combination for patients with
multi-system problems. 13 * Demonstrates proper Infection
Prevention skills to include Standardized Protocols or procedures
related to central lines and indwelling Foley catheters. 14*
Reports quality or Risk Management issues through appropriate lines
of authority, i.e. administrative or clinical. 15* Maintains
current knowledge of health care trends that affect the clinical
practice of Nursing on the unit. 16* Demonstrates standards of
documentation as evidenced by individual chart review and no
letters of education in file. 17* Upholds all aspects of the
Nursing Practice Act as defined by the California Board of
Registered Nursing. 18* Provides evidence of adherence to all nine
(9) ANA Code of Ethics for the Nursing profession. 19* Be in
attendance on site and arrive to work on time.
