experience as an RN. Must have 1 years experience as an RN. Job
Description: PATIENT POPULATION: The patient population served can
be all patients, including geriatric, adult, and adolescent. This
also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians,
visitors, vendors and the general public. POSITION SUMMARY: Under
the direction of the department Leader(s) and the Charge Nurse, the
R.N. Oncology Nurse independently provides holistic, individualized
care using the nursing process for patients routinely seen on the
unit. The Clinic RN will assist in the coordination of care with
physicians (both within the hospital and community) and staff to
serve patients through education, care management, quality
improvement and support programs. This position requires full
understanding of oncology care and oncology disease management.
Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, nursing
judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the
quality of patient care. Independently performs general and
unit-specific clinical skills. Contributes to the Sierra View
Medical Center's Department of Cancer Treatment Services and the
nursing profession in a positive manner. Must be able to work
normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs,
weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as
directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled
and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you
are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California
Emergency Services Act. (Gov’t. Code §§ 3100, 3102) Needs to

reporting perceived misconduct, including actual or potential
violations of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or this

job successfully, an individual must have and maintain current
licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California. Current
OCN or ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy card preferred. Must have
and maintain current BLS Card, required. Responsibilities and
Essential Functions: *Indicates Essential Function 1 At the time of
patient admission to the CTC, the patient will be assessed for an
immediate need with appropriate interventions applied. 2 Initiates
accurate and on-going assessment of physical and psychosocial
problems and responses of patients undergoing cancer treatment. 3
Obtains data through health history, physical examination, review
of records and communication with health care providers and
significant others, as appropriate. 4 Identifies priorities for
nursing actions based on patient outcomes and patient goals. 5
Insures that supplies and equipment necessary for the care of the
patient are readily available and in working order. 6 Serves as a
patient advocate and acts as a central point of contact for
patients; including interaction with medical, nursing and ancillary
services. 7 * Provides enhanced education to patients, families and
caregivers regarding illness and care options. 8 When needed
provides direct patient nursing for specified patients, including
wound care, port/PICC access, supportive care, blood administration
etc. 9 Identifies and clarifies questionable orders and treatment
regimens and obtains satisfactory resolution by effective
communication with physician or other appropriate personnel. 10
Seeks guidance when faced with nursing procedures not yet mastered.
11 Demonstrates ability to consistently delegate activities and
patient care with consideration to continuity, staff skill level
and complexity of patient care needs as evidenced by patient
satisfaction, staff satisfaction and timeliness of work completion.

NPSGs as it relates to area of practice and engages the patient
through teaching in activities that support the NPSGs. 14 *
Participates in the Joint Commission/Centers for Medicare &
Medicaid Core Measure Improvement as demonstrated by complying with
evidence based practice for patients with CHF, AMI, Pneumonia and
those patients undergoing surgical procedures. 15 * Demonstrates
proper infection prevention skills to include standardized
protocols or procedures related to central lines and indwelling
Foley catheters. 16 Measures patient outcomes and attainment of
patient goals as evidenced by application of Laboratory values,
X-ray reports and other objective assessment data. 17 Participates
in adherence to the Joint Commission “National Patient Safety Goals
for Hospitals” as defined by scope of practice. 18 * Documents the
patient’s condition and any changes in condition accurately. 19
Documents all treatments, medication, interventions, teaching and
patient responses. 20 Documentation reflects communications with
other health care professionals and outcomes of those
communications. 21 * Documentation reflects compliance with
established Hospital policies and procedures. 22 Maintains
relationships with external services for referrals and resources
(e.g. community physicians, hospice representatives) 23 Works with
the physician to develop an intervention plan from time of referral
and helps coordinate ancillary services, educates the patient
throughout the treatment process, assists patient and physician
with changing care priorities. 24 Acts as a resource for the
learning needs of staff as evidenced by assistance in teaching and
evaluation of other personnel, as needed. 25 * Models a positive
image of Sierra View Medical Center when interacting with patients,
family and the public, supporting and articulating the concepts of
the Quality Improvement Programs. 26 Demonstrates an awareness of
self responsibility and accountability for own professional
